Pilot Whales
Pilot Whales have been subjected to slaughter in the Faroe Islands, killing over 1,000 whales annually.
Help us raise awareness, to stop this cruel, unnecessary event.
Our Mission
We are passionate about combatting the Faroe Islands’ annual grindadráp or “Grind.” The grind once started as a hunt to harvest food for the Faroese people , has now become a cruel and unnecessary recreational activity. Our mission is to reduce the amount of innocent pilot whales killed and discarded each year.
Pilot Whales
Pilot whales are a long and short finned species of cetaceans native to the North Atlantic Ocean. These whales travel in pods with a leader or “pilot.”
Why should the Grind be banned?
Whaling is a cruel and unethical event that has been outlawed in numerous regions.
Consumption of whale meat is harmful causing numerous health conditions.
The hunt has lost its tradition and become a killing sport as access to technological advancements rises, such as boats and jet skis.
Whale meat is no longer the main food source for the Faroese people as their fishing industry grows.
